Appendix: Examples of Political Sensitive Topics

We believe that discussing politics will not only offend people who have no interest in politics, but will also not effectively change the policies of a country or region. This will eventually lead to keyboard politician drama.
As of revision V2.5, we have listed examples of such topics for reference only. When posting in our user groups, please do not post comments that fall into the following examples.

  1. When it comes to country/region names and sovereignty, please refer to the information in the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) website. For whatever reason, you may not publish country names and sovereign statuses that are inconsistent with the information listed on the ISO website. If you have a problem with a country name that you recognize, please submit your comments to ISO.

    Example 1: Use “Western Korea”, a name that is not widely recognized internationally, to refer to the People’s Republic of China.
    Example 2: Place Taiwan region alongside a sovereign independent country.
  1. Publishing flag designs of countries/regions that are not generally recognized internationally are not permitted.
  2. Regardless of the purpose, you are not allowed to comment on any policy given by any government department or ruling party in any country/region, and you are not allowed to speculate.
  1. You may not encourage other members to use protestware and follow the developers of protestware, even if the protestware itself is Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).
    Examples: Notepad++, node-ipc.
  2. You are not allowed to publicly publish any remarks that insult the image of any country/region, the image of a country/region’s leader, or racial discrimination.
  3. You are not allowed to share controversial news and unsubstantiated policy requests with serious political background.
  4. You are not allowed to distort history and make remarks that are inconsistent with historical facts. This is illegal in many countries.
    Example: Denying the crimes of the Nazi organization during World War II.
  5. You must not encourage any user to pay attention to, understand and support individuals or groups with the intention of “endangering national security”.
  6. Looking for loopholes or staying at borderlines from examples shown above is also regarded as a violation of the rules.

We hope that through the above code of conduct, our community will stay completely away from political topics.
